Specifically, they're missing parts. One's lacking a carburetor.

In case there is any confusion...that engine on its trailer now resides in the A-C-D Museum. I don't imagine it has been run since Bill ran it last.

The last time I was in the Natmus, I believe there were a couple of J engines (from Dean Kruse?) on display there. I think they had 'problems'.

He used to tow it around on a trailer, with the Duesenberg he restored, and start it up for people.

One story was that the engine was fould up in Western Canada powering a dredge.

We had a classic regional meet at Columbia Lakes, south of Houston one year and we had the rain storm from hell. He showed up in that Duesenberg and parked it out n the rain storm all buttoned up. he said it was a car, and designed to get wet.

I never saw that car on a tailer.

Was that the engine that had a factory supercharger and transmission that was parted out?

Maybe you can get the A-C-D Museum to loan you the late Bill Bocock's display engine. As I remember, that one used to run pretty good.

Thanks Chris. One of these days I'll get over being stupid and figure out how to post my own photos.

What do you think, guys? What would they do at the ACD museum if they looked out the morning of the festival and saw that sitting there?

I gotta borrow and old dragster chassis, and a Duesenberg engine, too.

Bill Powell took time off from driving Duesenbergs for a living to sketch this SJ-powered dragster, complete with Monel sidepipes.
