I would have to go back and find the article in one of my old Cars & Parts, but I think the "810 SC" Phaeton (not really a typo; it was an 810 converted to supercharged specs in '37) with black fenders and cream body was in Joseph Hardy's collection (Woodlands Toy Store) at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Pennsylvania. Paint and supercharging was done at the factory, if memory serves.

Any experts feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

<<There was a longtime ACD Club member from California by the name of William Snyder. Checking the 2003-2004 directory, I find a listing for a Jo Ellen Snyder with two Duesenbergs listed, One is a 1934 J Rollston Towncar.

Bill definitely isn't a "was" he and Jo Ellen were at Auburn this year, and both looked pretty healthy to me.

I have been looking for more ads but not many used the selling power of the image of the 810. I thought this 1935 article about the upcoming debut of this unusual car would be of some interest.

Thanks for posting these most interesting photos. It would be interesting to know the history of the two Cords in the Newspaper photo and where they are now. JIM

I was looking through a 1937 car manual and saw this cartoon, on the gas station sign it says, Sahara Gas, .19 cents per gallon. Free water and air. The camel needs 20 gallons. How prophetic 70 years ago.

When the above Duesy was at the museum before being taken to the Auction. The crew that brought the car was pushing and asked me to steer the car. At the time I was working at the museum part-time and did one of those - WHO ME? expressions then with a big grin I was off.

The frustration here is that you would think Micky D?s or Whopper?s could use these images for their campaigns, I would like my kids to get happy meal car toys shaped like classics. At least the kids would learn about style.

I found a few calendar images but ad pictures are scarce. Here is a cool picture in the Pittsburgh Press 6.21.64.

There are some Cords in the same article I will scan. The first 810 Cord at the horse track was owned by Jim Corbin.

Checking the 2003-2004 directory, I find a listing for a Jo Ellen Snyder with two Duesenbergs listed, One is a 1934 J Rollston Towncar. I would assume this is the same car in the advertisement you posted. I also believe the Cord in the 1st Advertisement you posted was owned by former ACD club member John Jumer and was a Best Of Show car at the time. Jim

/\ /\ I've seen this one for sale in Grabill, Indiana at the antique shops.

When you come to Auburn, if you have time, you should take the drive up there and browse around. Took Ken Clark either last year or the year before. Not too far away, that is if you turn the correct way, unlike I did. --I'm such a noob, I live around here too.

To locate these ads I went down and dug them out of the vast library in the balin? dungeon.

Now why can I not find these pictures in my new National Geographic magazine?

Here is another ad but it uses a 1934 Rollston Town Car. It says it is owned by Mr., William Snyder and there is a date of 6/1965. This lady has a full-length mink coat on, what would PETA say?

He couldn't have put those insert bearings in there (without modifications) anyway, no matter how much she nagged. The Lycoming engine was a bit behind the times there, using semi-finished babbitt shells!

Nice Car - CORRECT

Good bearings - Probably CORRECT

Happy couple - WRONG, She told him to get those bearings, but he didn't. Then the car broke. And now she's pointing the finger at him while nagging, "I told you so, you said that these were the bomb, but then they broke, told you you should have bought F-M bearings, told you"

He's just smiling to get off the hook and to hopefully silence her soon, so he can feel the wind and hear the open road to shut out the wife. :D

Watching the TV and newspapers I noticed there were not any images of the beautiful Cord in advertising. There was a time, long ago, when a paint company utilized the auto for a promotion. Here is one of the advertisements, it would be nice if the Cord was again used in media.
