The Town Tavern @ 1343 S. Main St. is a good place to hit at least once over Labor Day weekend. The Railroad Inn in Garrett is worth the short drive, and there's supposed to be another good restaurant over there, but we've never found it.

I'll vouch for the Mexican place Chris mentioned too.

Replied by Chris Summers on topic restaurants
We had dinner at i think Don Juan's, a Mexican place in one of the strip malls outside of downtown. (DJ Turner can probably correct me on the name there if I'm wrong.)

I'm sure it's not "sitting-amongst-Duesenbergs" but it's good food at good prices. I'd visit again.

I have not been very adventuresome the last 25 or so years that I have made the annual journey to Auburn over the Labor Day weekend. I have usually eaten with the Club or at the Auburn House. I know that the Auburn House is history so I am looking for some recommendations. Fancy is not the criteria... "Good Food" is. I can say without a doubt, that the Club Dinner at Dean Kruses House in his FANTASTIC GARAGE was certainly the most memorable Dinner that I have had. Dean, Maybe we can do that again some time... "Hint".
Thanks, Mark Tyra
