Hi Chris,

Thanks for the info, that clears up a lot of confusion.

I am also anal about correctness and try to assign the correct body style / engine number to all of my Duesenberg photos.

Thanks for the compliment of my avatar, I made it myself =)

Walker-LaGrande refers to LaGrande bodies built by the A.H. Walker Body Company of Indianapolis.

LaGrande bodies were also made by the Union City Body Company of Union City, IN, and Central Manufacturing Company of Connersville, IN. J-189 has a LaGrande body that is thought to have been made by Derham, then sold to Duesenberg along with a similar Town Car body that to the best of my knowledge has never been matched up to a car.

For the sake of identification I call them Walker-LaGrandes, Union City-LaGrandes, Central-LaGrandes, and (in that one case) a Derham-LaGrande...but then I'm anal about accuracy.

See Josh Malks's book for a listing of what companies built what body style.

P.S. Great avatar, Bryan.

I've also seen it listed as Walker-LaGrande, so this confuses me as well

According to Josh's book there's evidence for LaGrande, Legrand, and La Grande.

Personally I use LaGrande and that's how I've always seen it used.

Depending on who wrote a particular book or article, I see the following spellings for Duesenberg's in-house body builder: La Grande, LaGrande,
Le Grande, LeGrande. This may be a dumb question, but which one is right?
