I believe that the 3rd style bracket with the curved bottom was used on 37 std models in late production that had the 2 brush shunt generator.
The reason is that the larger generator would hit the air cleaner. Thats why it was moved to the passenger side of the engine.

Thank you for this answer Pat. As I continue my restoration of my 37 Cord I watch this site. The unmolested 37 Cord in the Schlumpf's posting shows the curved bracket. I have seen the supercharged engines u type bracket with the offset bent leggs on it. Thanks so much for this information too.

To my knowledge the factory used (3) different brackets for non-supercharged Cords. The first style was a simple "U" type bracket used on early type generators, the second was a simple "U" bracket for late generator, and last was a bracket with an additional curved bottom plate. I think the last one came on late FB blocks with side mount fuel pumps. I have all three types. All S/C cars had an offset bracket that allows clearance around the supercharger.

Why did the factory use so many different generator mounting brackets for a non supercgarged 810 or 812 engine? Just wondering...
