As I am going through my 36 Cord 1752A, I have discovered a paint mystery. Thinking that the 36 was finished in Rich Maroon, I have always thought that this was a non-metallic finish. However after removing the 2 layers of white paint (very poor paint jobs) in several locations (upper firewall, interior door jambs, interior of doors, behind door latches, etc., I have found that the maroon finish has a very faint metallic within the paint. It is similar to pearl finish but very faint. I have also determined that there is not another layer of paint under that. The paint on the firewall is very thin and the door edges (inside) are also thin but has the same metallic finish. The truck trim is a flat maroon finish. Is it possible this was customer requested?
