After I posted my comment I looked at Josh's note and realized that he didn't give a phone number. The number is 800-933-4926 and I talked to Matthew. My radio was in my 1936 Westcheter. Matthew told me it was solid state 6 volt Positive with an O base. Their web site is www.radio.com .

This a is a speciality item. There is no part number. You will just have to contact the above people and see if they will make you one. It took me about five months to get mine.

Does anyone have the part number for the solid state vibrator that would replace the mechanical one in a Crosley unit?

One step in making the radio work would be replacing the mechanical vibrator with a solid state one. Available from Antique Automobile Radio folks in FL. No hum, much less current draw.

Hi Dennis,

Cord used two different makes of radios. A Crosley and a Philco.

The top and bottom should have a screw in the middle. Remove the screw and the top or bottom should be able to be pulled off. If you need the schematics for the radio let me know and I'll email them to you.

Note the light on the dash is in the head and will have nothing to do with the radio working.

Dennis there are still plenty of stations for A M, but you can get the radio redone to run AM or FM .

Does anyone know much about radios in Cord sedans? I am trying to finish up a few things on my Cord before Auburn. I have owned the Cord for a little over three years and the Radio has never worked the light comes on in the dash when I turn it on. I tried to open the case up under the dash so I could take a look and see if it is the vibratory but I can?t seem to find a way to open it, has anyone got an idea? It has a small round emblem that say Cord in it. I have not been able to a diagram of it. I know even if I get it to work I won?t be able to get many stations on it anyway.
