Easy to figure out. Look at the lower right rear corner of your block. Is there a hole there for mounting the pump? If not, it was a top-mounted pump.

So either way would be a correct?. Thats kind of what I'm getting from these answers. Any chance there was 37 beverly with a top mounted or side mounted fuel pump. As I have posted before, my car serial numbers are 1748 S. Is this an early, mid year or late car in the serial numbers for the 1937 year. Thanks again for any information on this.

Of course you could have a non S/C engine with a side mounted fuel pump.
Just a little confusing info.

Thank you Mario. My car is a non supercharged engine so this helps me to understand a little more about these cars. Thanks again...

It depends which engine is installed: the FB engines (non supercharged) have the fuel pump on top, the FC engines (supercharged) have the fuel pump down aft of the Startix. It depends of course also what sort of provisions your engine has. The mech. fuel pump of the non S/C engines is attached to the adapter which holds also the distributor. The S/C engine has a separate opening in the block.

Hello all. I have a 1937 Cord Beverly Sedan. My question is where is the correct location for the mechanical fuel pump. I have seen 1937 cars with the pump on the intake manifold and down by the starter. So does it belong on top... On the bottom or it doesn't matter just as long as the engine is a Lycoming engine as came with the cars originally. Thanks for any information or oppinions.
