I have drawings from Lee Richardson for the full flow oil filter conversion but am not home to access them. When I get home in a few weeks I will send you a copy if you haven't got a copy yet. Let me know.

Sure, I'll try and scan them and attach it, if not I'll email it to you. It'll be tonight.

Any chance of seeing/obtaining the full-flow oil filtration drawings?

I agree it would be great to collect the forum and newsletter info into an engine mod file. The hardest part would determining what mods and methods should be recommended.

I have a drawing for the full flow filtration, looks like it's from the 70's. It's a pretty simple mod.

I want to say that my engine was rebuilt using '50 Pontiac rod bearing inserts, but am not certain. The mains were still babbit. It would be great if all this info can be collected and posted when we are all done with the various explainations & identities of these mods. I also have the full flow oil filtration, with a remote filter canister. I'm not 100% sure on how this was achieved by my builder, Gail Shaw, but it sure makes sense; full filtration (which I feel is a must, especially in a babbit bearing enviornment), that much extra oil capacity, and it is all exposed, giving the oil that much more cooling.

Chain oiling:
The only info I can find is from a 1971 newsletter (#7 page 18) recommending increased oil on the chain. It said there was several ways to do it but the only one mentioned was using the return from a bypass "oil filter" plumbed through the top of the chain cover. I was planning on drilling a small hole in the side of the oil gallery plug.

The use of fine threads in head bolts is very unusual. Fine threads are a bit shallower, and any corrosion affects them more than coarse. Easier to strip too.
If you search this forum for "head bolts" you come up with a thread that has several Cord owners feeling the same way. Which is where I got the idea!
Any idea of what the modification was for the improved timing chain oiling?

I thought I saw some roller bearings for sale in the newsletter a couple months ago. Maybe using old stock bearings. Might be costly. I plan to try to find a modern (metric) bearing replacement. Does anyone have a copy of the original bearing (Torrington needle bearing 3615) drawing or a description? I think they have an outer race but use the shaft as the inner race.
The other mod is to modify the rods to accept modern replaceable bearings.
Minor change is to add a o ring on the oil pickup.
I think there is a mod to increase oil to the timing chain.
Could you explain or provide reference for the head bolt mod? Why go to coarse threads?

I'm about the rebuild the FC out of my 812. I have a list of modifications that I've gathered over the years, please share any others you'd recommend:
Porsche valve adjusters
Supercharger oiling modification
External full flow oil filter modification
Install seal locs on all head bolt holes and switch to coarse thread bolts
Install hardened valve seats
Replacing the rocker arm roller bushings with needle bearings was discussed several places but I understand the bearings are no longer available?
Thanks!
