I'm determined to get to the bottom of my shifting issue (can't get first, rarely get reverse, slow to shift)

I've rebuilt the cross-shifter shaft and arm - It had a lot of fore/aft play. It's snug and the shaft moves freely.

I believe I have a vacuum problem and I would appreciate anyone's procedure for making sure I look top to bottom.

BTW - The exhibition got me driving the Cord faster than I ever have! It was awesome to hit 80+ on the highway. Put me in the 'drive them/no trailer queen' camp.
