Mace,

I once helped an inebriated long term ACD member out of a tie at the reunion, does that count? It was either that or let him hang himself in his sleep.

And wait just a minute, I remember you in that tie, that was the year you offered to take my wife Jane to Walmart to buy a dress so we could attend the ball!!

I said it before, you gotta love this club!

I wear ties to weddings and funerals...and even then, I have to really like/have liked you.

I paid full ticket for my copy of "Cord Complete" but only because, being so new and so limited-production, I didn't expect to see a used copy online anytime soon. (Besides, it's my experience that the people who buy expensive niche car books buy them to keep them.)

Keep digging, Mason, you'll find one eventually.

I once wore a real tie at the Auburn meet. Naturally I do not know how to tie one.
After 7 guys finally, Tim Gilmartin came to my rescue. He had to put it on himself, but he did know how to do it.
There are some of out there that have good taste in cars, but are not"polished" people. I am one of them....but usally my cars run pretty good... and I do race an Auburn or 2 every year.
and I've driven them 40,000 mi .

@ Chris, thanks for your assertion, you have disillutioned me now quite much, am i now quite much wiser ??? ( going by your bottom line .....

Again i realize that i'm a no USA resident individum but beside ACD-Books , "Fahrenheit 451" will be on my must read-book-list.

Before that, i'm currentley reading all back issues of ACD-Newsletter from the DVD and i'm now in 1965...... until some ?%*&%&?(/(%!!!!! has spoiled my Laptop with Coffee. I tried to restore it with bakingsoda.....
but after 52 houers, my Computer-specialist says, that trick with bakingsoda workes only with printed medias.

"Fahrenheit 451" is a famous book by American science fiction writer Ray Bradbury, dealing with a society in which books are burned. The title refers to the temperature in Fahrenheit at which paper combusts.

212 is the boiling point of water (coffee). My title is a joke based on the Bradbury story - the point at which paper is destroyed by boiling coffee. Just a joke!

@ josh, i knew that, since my son has spoiled my regular copy with my wifes coffe, thats why my proposal was to engage someone else to spoil the book, preferably a youg girl with a coke or similar. Children are cheaper to hire, can't be taken by law and have fast legs and your Cord complete looks spoilt by coke but can be restored with baking soda until 52 houers after "accident " !

Be advised that every copy of Cord Complete has a coffee-proximity detector and GPS tick. If you come near it with coffee the GPS tick jumps onto your clothing and the bookstore will be able to track you wherever you go. Also, your name will be placed on a "do not sell" list.

Waddaya think, we're foolin' around here? :)

In case you plan something in the gift-shop, don't do it your self but be there .
Let somebodey else do it and be redy to offer a reduced price for that spoilt copy.
My father used to say : i don't like what you have done, but at least you where inovativ and successful on your plan.
He let me then select my punishment and doubled it.........

I'm not complaing about the price at all. I know myself! And many others do too.
I'm a hands on guy, and where were those hands just a little while before? Well working on an old car, of course.
Or reading about one, naturally holding on to a cup of, well, what time is it?
I guess I'll have to see if i can enjoy a beer in the gift shop!

Hi,

Personally, I thought--and think--that Cord Complete was a bargain at retail price. Lotsa info there, folks.

Mason, as someone who took 5 years to find copies of Elbert and Roe at "mere mortal" prices (thank you, Justin Kerns), I understand completely. Happy hunting and see you soon. You bringing a car or serving as Tom's navigator?

And Mike, I was thinking the same thing.

I'm looking for a copy of the Cord Complete. As I use my stuff alot ,I feel a need to acquire a copy that someone spilled coffee on. or some other minor damage.
I'm not trying to be cheap, just realistic about myself. I attend Auburn every year, and have for 28 years.
my # is 708-256-0677 & stay at the Auburn Hotel.
