Hi frank, no i have not solved my headlight cable problem yet, since i discovered that if i would have them made, it would be expensive and as a producer for this item, the market would be very small since most cord aren't in Europe and Switzerland is not in the Europeen Community, so taxes
would push prices up as the shipping would too.
It was my understanding that at such high prices , nobody would be willing
to buy enough sets. But since i have to find a solution i'll keep a focus on it.
In case you have the originals, most likley you can repair them..........

For Members only part of Forum contact Bill Hummel for help.
best regards philipp

The more i know, the more i realize that i don't know enough.

Hi Bill,Philipp,

Thanks for the welcome, JJ(the owner of the car) has become a member of the club.
The DvD of the newsletters is high on our "to get " list.
I'll get in touch with Don about wheels, driveshafts are ok as far as I can determine, need speedisleeves on the inner CV s.

Philipp, in a past thread you mentioned you were getting headlamp cables made. Any left? I've tried to get them made
locally, but they came out rather expensive and not as original.

I could use some help getting on the members only part of the forum.

Thanks ,
Frank

Hi Frank &JJ, first thing to do is becomming a ACD-Club member !
Second is to buy the new DVD of past ACD- NEWSLETTER which contains most improofement on Cords at:

<a href="mailto:[email protected]][email protected][/url]

Don Wohlwent is currentley producing new Alu rims ( wheels ) which are beautyfully made, he has the better rear hubs as well.
If you want realy to drive the Cord, get a new Richardson Conversion of driveshaft with modern u-joints that don't ruttle, get radial tyres with whitewalls too and most runninggear is perfect for miles and miles without any trouble worthwile are also the redesigned heads.
I'm going this route along with a new wiring and overhouled gearboxoilpump which Henery Portz does, there are more things that can be improofed.
I'm located in Switzerland and we have at least 5 Cords here.
Feel free to ask, CORDially Philipp

The more i know, the more i realize that i don't know enough.

[i:11gmd63p]If you want access to a LOT of printed articles on these subjects, consider joining the Club and purchasing the Newsletter DVD. We just put 52 years of Newsletters on the DVD and it is fully searchable. It would be an excellent shop resource.[/i:11gmd63p]

Hi out there,

My name is Frank, I'm a mechanic at Toncar in the Netherlands.
I have been entrusted with the care for a Cord 812. :)

At the moment the focus is om mechanicals, engine, cooling system and driveline need work done.

The engine needs a full rebuild.
I am looking for worthwhile mods.oil system, main and conrod bearings, "lifters",pistons all look like something could be done?

Is there anything I should check/do on the gearbox while it is out?

The radiator will be recored, will fit filters to protect it .
Waterpump parts are on the way, have found some adresses for carb, brake and shock parts.

The front hubs are ok, will get new bearings and seals,
Driveshafts have little or no play, will re-grease.

Need new wheels!

Just a few of the questions that arise when working on a car like this.
There will be more.

Thanks
Frank
