When you get the starter you should replace it's field with a hi-torque one. You can get this field from Electric Motor Service, P.O.Box 511, Stolling, WV 800-697-6070. They cost about $40. Also, make up new battery cable with OO welding cable and ground the battery to the starter, not the body. It will really crank over better.

I ran these applications past our local old car parts guy, and he came up with different # for each situation. But we weren't able to figure out what the differences are. I'll keep on it.

The folowing should interchange :

Hupmobile 1936-39 Six
Nash 1936-48 ( except 1946-48 Series 40 )
Lafayette 1936-39
Lincoln 1936-48 Series K
