Taillight lenses won't fit ther housings. was created by Aris Loumidis
Hi all!

I am trying to understand something about our taillight housings and the lenses that should fit in there. I just got a new pair of glass lenses, but there is now way i can fit them!

Can anyone shed some light here? I mean were there maybe two different sizes of housings used, or maybe two diferrent sizes of lenses? Unless i have a problem with the chrome rings being too big? Or what else is wrong?

Anyway, here are the measurements I took of what I have:

The measurements off the glass lenses are as follows, where:

A is the overall outside diameter of the lens
B is the inner step-up diameter of the lens, where the bulge begins, or where the metal ring should fit.

So, the dimensions of the GLASS LENSES are

A = 4,210?
B = 3,892?

For comparison, here are the equivalent dimensions of the PLASTIC LENSES I have had on my car till now. I got them from J.K. or maybe Stan years back, can?t remember from who. They fit easily, with very little effort.

They measure:

A = 4,092
B = 3,786

Now on the housing, here is the measurement of the INNER diameter, (opening) of my taillight Housings, where the lenses have to go through, it reads 4,320?

It is very apparent that the Glass lenses barely fit, whereas the plastic ones have no problem.

Any ideas?
