Pete, Originally it was fastened either of two ways. Early cars the factory used drive nails (like were used for the windlace & carpet in some places). Later ones used slotted binding head sheet metal screws. You can tell wich were used by the holes in the cowl; if the holes are indented in the metal, drive nails; if sheet metal screws were used the holes appear to be drilled. 31631H Henry

There are manny ways to overcome this, some ACD-members will twist my head for some proposal's :

1., but you can use ordenery poprivets, if you don't mind, orginality.

2. you can ask a trimmer to supplye brass or alu-rivets.

3. You find copper-nails with the right diameter in your hardwarestore, shorten them and procede as usual.

4. Ask a trimmer to do it.

I hope this was of some help, and only if for finding out, what you don't want. <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=":wink:" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->

The more i know, the more i realize that i don't know enough.

Gents- I'm having a devil of a time attaching the hood lacing on 2241H. I have 1/8" split rivets about 9/16" long which I push thru the webbing, leaving about 7/16" blades sticking out below. I can't seem to be able to bend these suckers over with needle nose pliers- too stiff. Can't locate brass rivets anywhere, so what's this guy gonna do?

Any help will be most appreciated!

BTW, she runs and shifts Great!! Fast little sucker. Now to get the front fenders done and the interior finished.
