The lock is not in the way. I think that the glass was just cut shorter for one door, it was probaly a replacement glass. I put the same size windows in the front doors of my Westchester a couple of years ago and no problems.

Hi Mike, Great instinct, possibly, will visually check the lock clearance next time door panel is off. My lock handle will be on the curb side on my car but it does not have the armrest seats so I can slide over to exit vehicle.
My window crank handles point to the rear when the windows are rolled up, 3 o- clock on copilots and at 9 on chauffeur's side.

Is it possible that the a door lock on one side might require a shorter window because of the lock tumbler?

The rear glass would have been the smaller ones so when they are lowered there would be a larger window opening as the wheel radius would interfere. The fronts were custom cut so it would be timed to the window lift and the window frame opening.
I will never forget my school teacher in the 6th grade telling us students about the old cars, he would say that they may be an inch different from front to rear. I could not understand that as all the cars were mass produced. He would say they were handbuilt. That measurement/tolerance, would apply to our cars.

Window Glass Question was created by MDMARKIN
I have 2 panes of front sedan window glass. One pane is 1 inch deeper at 15 5/8" than the other 14 5/8". The rear windows are 14" each. Any idea why the front glass is different between themselves? If correct, which goes on what side?

Thanks

Mike Markin
