Several notes:
1. Take detail shots, too: dash, trunk, original accessories.
2. These photos are going to be printed LARGE, some as big as 10 x 14. To do this we need big digital files. Resolution must be not less than 300 PPI. The image size should be no less than 2400 x 3000. Even bigger is better.
3. Set your camera for RAW images, if it has that capability. If not, see if there is a setting that does not compress the image in the camera. Use the finest setting.
4. Files this large must be sent by CD, not by email. If you want to send a photo by email for my review in advance, that would be great.
5. If you're not sure how to get such a big file send sharp color prints. The publisher will have them professionally scanned.
Email me at <a href="mailto:] if you have any questions.
Thanks!

To everyone else: I've gotten private replies too, but can still use more photos.

I agree that both series of Cords are beautiful, capable and classic. And that Lycoming engines are great.
Now can we get back to the original purpose of the thread --- color photos for my book?
THANK YOU.

They do both have nice Lycoming Engines, very different, other than the name and the front drive. there is really nothing in common about these two cars. I do enjoyed them both very much.

Seems like a natural:
1929-1932 = "Old Cord Front Drive". 1936-1937 = "New Cord Front Drive".
Howzat?

If you would like your Cord (or that of a friend) included, here are the parameters:
1. Photos must be of high quality. That does not mean they have to be taken by a professional. Here are some guidelines:
a. Choose a neutral background. To avoid --- dumpsters, other cars, telephone poles. Alternatively, an interesting period background works too --- old factory buildings, old storefronts.
b. Focus! If the photo is not sharp I can't use it.
c. Shoot in the early morning or late afternoon. If your photographer is skilled at lighting, a night shot can be very dramatic.
d. Shoot all angles: 3/4 front, 3/4 rear, dead-on front or rear, side. If you can get it, a top view is interesting. Seek unusual angles too, but not exclusively.
e. Shoot details: dash, instruments, gearshift, interior, exhausts, underhood, trunk interior. (Watch focus and lighting.) If your car has interesting accessories: ash tray, windwings, etc that would be great.
f. Include the subject car's full serial number (e.g. 810-2087A), the body style, the name of the owner and the name of the photographer.
Photos and information used will receive credit in the book.
Send your photographic print (I will return it). The publisher will have it professionally scanned. If you have it as a digital file it must be no less than 300 PPI. Send it on a CD. (If it's small enough to send by email it is probably not of high enough resolution.)
DEADLINE IS MARCH 1.
