I appreciate the input. While I would also prefer a stock Cord I would not immediately rule out the subject car as it [i:1ph1pp89]is[/i:1ph1pp89] represented as being an original Cord, it looks stock externally and even retains its FWD layout. I assume it hasn't been butchered too badly so it potentially could be put back to stock in the future (and enjoyed while parts are being collected).

I just don't want to overspend when the time comes if an available car has been converted.

I have been told that modified Cords are not certifiable. Only their owners are! Certified nuts!

I think it cuts the value in half. But, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You never can tell when someone one wants a Cord that drives like a modern car.
They'll often pay quite a bit if the car is finished out nicely.

Take club member Bill Diciurcio as an example. He wanted my Cord 810 Cabriolet, but I beat him to the punch by 5 minutes.

He wanted a Cord Moderno. He's had plenty of outstanding Cords and he wanted one with no headaches.

He ending up buying a fiberglass Cabriolet from Don Loux and finished it out with wonderful detail.

What's it worth? Who knows, but he sure has a head turner! Only Bill knows what he has into it now, but I bet it is up into the 6 figures.

I plan to have a "correct" Cord again someday. That's just so I can fit in better with this crowd ... They can be pretty tough.
But that's the purpose of this Club. Perhaps a modified Cord would be of more value to a non-ACD Club Member who isn't so picky.

OK, I guess that's a NO then. <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->

On average how much does a missing or incorrect driveline reduce the value of an 810/812? Is the top bid about right for this one?

How is a Cord like this viewed by the ACD Club? Could it be certified in its current configuration?
