Hi--I sent you a PM to your mail box. Take a look--I have some items you might need.

My Cord looks similarly disassembled right now, but I am blessed with all the parts. :D

Randy, we do have the louvers, hood, fenders(real bad shape), but we are interested in everything we can find for this car. Even if we have it, it might be in better shape than what we have. I would like to find a transmission that's in one piece! You can either pm me or e mail me what you want for the parts. Pics would be nice if you have them. Our phone # here is 262-763-1903. I'm here from 10-5 Mon-Fri.

Off the subject, I see that in the "Old Cars guide to Auto Restoration", on page 94, there is a pic of a L-29 Cabriolet.

P.S. you will need to determine the wheelbase in order to know
what kind of louvers are appropriate. Probably it is 125" so standard
louvers are probably correct.

Here is what we have to start with.

We do have some fenders that are in pretty bad shape, a motor and a few boxes that are supposed to be the transmission parts.

Thanks for the form, I found that soon after I posted yesterday. Now that I'm a member, anybody know where I can find the front frame of this car?
How about some gages for the dash? We have a pile of parts, but not those.

Edit: How do I post pics here? Forget it, I found it. It'll take me a while, but pics will be up today!

Edit #2: It'll have to wait til I get home, can't seem to rum photo bucket here.

Thanks, Dan

I sure wish I could have made it for the Labor Day gathering, already had plans for a Classic Boat thing that week. We just got the car in today to start on it. I'll be joining the club here as soon as I finish this post! Then I'll post some pics.

Hi Dan---congrats on landing the restoration job.

A great source of information and technical advice is the annual meet in the park in Auburn over the Labor Day weekend, particularly on Saturday morning. There will be 810's and 812's in all states of restoration available for you to look over, photograph, and envy. The owners are always willing to share information and to make details on their cars accessible.

To see one that is near-totally disassembled, look for my 812 Westchester "Old Lady on a Trailer" on Saturday in the park, in the trailered vehicles section. On September 1 my car will enter its 59th year of ongoing restoration since my father bought it "severely used" in 1950 in Cleveland. (I lay claim--until challenged anyway--to the distinction of "Longest On-going Restoration") If you need to see body construction details of a sedan, this will be a good photo-opportunity for you. You can snoop and pry to your heart's content: that's the purpose of bringing trailered cars to the park.

You might consider trailering the Cord you're working on. You'll gather a crowd of genuine experts. Be prepared to take notes.

Hope to see you in Auburn,

--Tom

Another suggestion would be to go to Auburn IN for the annual Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg meet to be held from August 28 through August 31, 2008 where you will see many Cords being judged by experts and can attend judging school. In addition you can talk to the greatest Cord experts in the world .

Thanks Randall, I guess I'll look over the site and find out how to join! I'm more than sure it'll pay for itself just trying to find parts.

Hi,
The first thing that you might want to do is join the club and
get the newsletter. That will give you a good start.
You will also get the members list which will give you a
a great resource of guys who know their Cords.

As the name kind of implies, we are a restoration shop. We have a customer that just dropped off a 36 Cord 810 to have a museum quality restoration done on it. This looks to be a site I'll be looking at a lot in the next year or two! I have a lot of research to do, so I thought I'd ask if you guys could point me in a good direction? Thanks for any help!
