ASm, The # D11124 is the Cord part # for the front spring assembly. The "copyright symbol" that you refer to is the manufacturer's ID & S1380 is probably their part# . You should remove that 4" long top piece & replace it with one 16" to 18" long with the 4" x 1/16 deep concave in it (like the original). You could make one or possibly purchase one from Auburn Cord Parts Co. in Kansas. The reason to replace is that Cords with mileage on them is that the 4" long piece breaks the frame.
Also go back to "front spring mounting",left column, last post Jan 26,2005 by Stroker & then look @ post by Josh Malks dated Jan 11,2005. Henry

The transverse front leaf spring of my 812 (S/N 2152S, engine FB2605, Mfg # C96 324) has the following numbers stamped on both sides of the top most leaf: 12917, 1 37B (with the space occupied by the hole for the center through bolt), D11124. These seem to have no relation to the various serial numbers. The upper side of the short backing plate at the top of the stack has the copyright symbol and "S 1380" stamped on it. Can anyone comment on the significance of any of these?

ASm
