Pat,
I have always found that Double Bubble gum has worked the best.
Maybe other members have a favorite brand, i.e, wrigleys, beemans, doublemint,.....etc.
aka "jose" at the banquet

My wife's Cord repair was created by Pat Leahy
Last weekend at the Spring East Meet, my Cord ran poorly on Friday. Upon returning to the motel we found an intake manifold leak. This leak caused a whistle, especially at idle. We sprayed some WD-40 around the manifold and pin pointed the area of leakage. While checking with a number of club members for some gasket sealer to brush on the outside, hoping it would suck it in, and close off the leak temporarily, no one had any supply. My wife offered her chewing gum to apply to the leaking area, and guess what, it worked. The next day on tour the car ran much better and covered 60+ miles without fault. I guess this may added to the bailing wire, and duct tape as standard Cord repair items.
