Don't mess with old CD stuff. Pertronix made a run of a modern electronic units for Cords (6 volt, positive ground) a couple of years ago. They have been running in many Cords for tens of thousands of miles. Contact club member Bob Pease, who sparkplugged (lousy pun) the project.
Major advantage is not necessarily increased voltage --- the Cord really doesn't need it. It's no more adjusting/replacing points and condenser.

I have a old positive ground CD system for a 6 volt car. Has anyone tried installing on a Cord 812. Is the Cap and Rotor able to handle the increases voltage or is it hopeless. Plugs and wires ? Any advise here would be helpful.
