Of course you don't torque a dry thread. Use oil, not ARP lub.

Hi, I scoured many printed pages looking for spec's for acd torque settings, nothing. It is sort of a black art. I cant imagine setting a dry thread but maybe a brake part. There is a soft touch needed, don't go to far or strip threads, no stretch and off comes the rod.

There are lots of bolt setting charts on-line to download and print,

I will caution anyone when torquing fasteners. ARP makes a special lub to use when torquing fasteners. Don't use it unless you are using there special hardened fasteners. If you use it on reg. fasteners they will twist right off before the torque spec. are reached.

My information was gleemed from others who I consider experts. The torquing was done with clean oiled threads. I used these settings and all is well.

Rods at 35/40 lbs.
Mains at 90 lbs.
Heads at 55 lbs.

Good luck

I am in the process of restoring a 37 Westchester and the engine work has begun. I need to know what the connecting rod bolts and main caps are required to be torqued to. I can't find this in any information that I have. Any help would be great.Thank you in advance. Brian
