Thank y'all for the advice on the title correction. You are of course right that it really should be corrected. I have an amigo on the South Bend police force who I am sure would be happy to do the required inspection.

Thanks for the prodding, guys--I needed it.

Happy Holidays to all!

I'm glad I didn't buy that 1918 Root &amp; Vandevoort-Knight touring I saw on eBay a few months ago. :D Imagine how creative the DMV would have got on that one! <!-- s:twisted: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_twisted.gif" alt=":twisted:" title="Twisted Evil" /><!-- s:twisted: -->

In Indiana it would be no big deal to change but states have different laws.
The quickest in Indiana is if you have a friend who is a judge have him or her issue a court order to issue a correct title. By law DMV will issue anything the judge says. If he says it a 1414 Grass hopper you will get a title for a 1414 Grass hopper.

The other way is to have a police inspection. All you have to do is show enough information to convince the police officer that there is a error on the title and what it should be. (Indiana requires these inspections for all out of state titles anyway.) This how you correct VIN numbers or change old title that had the engine number to the body number.
The officer will fill out the inspection, then you take it to the DMV and pay to have a new title issued. Ask to check it this time before it is submitted.

Your state will be different, but most states it pretty easy.

Police inspections is how people get the cobra kit cars titled as 1965 Ford Cobras.
All you need is the car and an old Ford Title. Then you have the year, Model and VIN corrected and you get a title for a 65 Ford Cobra with the Vin you have on your car.

Tom, I wouldn't let it go if I were you. Talk to the supervisor (be nice). If you belong to the auto club see if they can help you. If not straightened out now it could be much trouble later. Henry

What's with the various states' BMV's? Despite correct and acurate input paperwork, my Indiana title somehow came through as a 1930, not 1937, Cord. The license plate Registration simply says "Other."

My poor car is SO confused--built first a 1936, then re-serialed as a 1937, and now titled as a 1930! I think by now it must have schizo-car-phrenia!

I am advised that it is just easier to let it be than to attempt to get the state to correct it.

Dan, Maybe you're lucky it didn't say FORD as mine did the first time around. Henry

Thanks Jim. I don't know how they did it, but I think everything on my title is wrong other than my name and the serial number of my car.

Thanks
Dan

Cord Westchester Title Question was created by mopar4ya
I just received my PA title for my 36 Westchester. They have it marked with the wrong year and it states it as a Auburn. My question is, Should it say Cord on the title, or because it was manufactured by Auburn it is going to say Auburn???

Thanks
Dan
