I have a radio - don't use it that much.

Can you tell me what size of capacitor should be installed?

In the Cord Service Bulletin No. 15 dated 26 Feb 1937 relating to installation of 'shunt type generators', page 3 of this bulletin is a diagram of the wiring layout.

This diagram shows what appears to be a grounded capacitor installed off terminal 'B', which is the wire going to the ammeter.

There's no mention of this item in the text and in the diagram itself it is not labeled. My car does not have one installed.

I assume the purpose of a capacitor would have been to damp fluctuations of the ammeter gauge and so extend its life.

Can anyone advise if I should install a capacitor here, and if so what size it should be?

My ammeter gauge sure bounces around a lot at times.
