My drivers door regulator does the same thing. When I put the glass in place it now cranks up and down just fine. The weight of the window over comes the tendency to unwind. As to your other problem it might be that there is dirt or rust in the channel that the glass sits in. Try clean and greasing the slots in the channel where the arms are attached. It could also be that the channels the glass slides in is worn out and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps.
The spring on the glass in my driver's door will not hold position. The spring continually uncoils when wound. Also when the glass is lowered it does not go straight. The mechanism is riveted together, is there a fix for this?
Any info on this problem or the proper function of this mechanism is greatly appreciated.
