Thanks Bill: Well said!! By the by, I think that red cabriolet is kind of nice looking, even if the top has an Auburn look. But what the hay! It was my first replica! It sold for $30,000 12 years ago! The current owner wouldn't take 100K for it today! Wait till you see the current model. With rumble seat, no less. The red phaeton isn't bad either! Who did it? Is that a Southeastern car? Anybody know?

I think the cord front fenders make this one look better then the other samcos. Personally I prefer the 8/10 but to each his own.

The only way I would own a Beetle is if it DID have a Cord hood on it! It would look like a little Cord Westchester. (Sorry Josh .. <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: --> )

These aren't really fakes. They are some replicas made by SAMCO. While they are not my cup of tea, they do have a loyal following. I know a number of great guys who own Glenn Prey and Samco automobiles.

Not many automobile companies are honored by having numerous companies build replicas of their designs. The Auburn Automobile Company is the only company that I know of that has been honored with replicas of all three of its marques. It's the timeless beauty of the Auburns, Cord and Duesenbergs that has inspired so many to attempt to duplicate them.

The ACD Club is An Organization for the Restoration and Preservation of Original AUBURN, CORD and DUESENBERG Automobiles.

We do allow replicas to participate in the Annual Parade and we encourage anyone with an interest in these autombiles to join our ranks. We have a special division for the later-year automobiles. It's all about the fun! While our Club encourages members to restore their automobiles in a correct and historical manner, we do realize this is a hobby for most.

Over the years, I have seen many members mellow with age. Not withstanding a few old cremudgeons (you know who you are!) many are now accepting replicas as long as they are not being represented as original cars.
