I believe Stan Gilland in Kansas has new lid holders for your Westchester.

Hi! Sorry to be so late jumping in on this topic! Working on my Cord. I bought a trunk prop like the one pictured from the factory way back when. It is a later one than the very simple one, or it may be from a Cabriolet. I decided to use my early one, and so sold the fancy one at Auburn when I was broke. I'm sure someone else has a better identification of the pictured prop and its uses. Ric. (Anyonelse have a s/c engine with working filler pipes?)

I question whether the pheaton lid holder will clear the shelf in the trunk which is over the spare tire?
I'm sure that you can get the correct one if you ask around.

Good luck.

I saw a 37 convertible yesterday, and the hold-open device pictured above appears correct. Pat, I have permission to take images of the hinges and will do so after the car has been serviced. I will post them on this thread. Update: I have been told that the pictured hold-open is from a Phaeton. I will still install it, but will keep looking for the elusive correct one.

Does anyone have info on how the hinges mount or pictures?

The hinges at the top of the trunk lid are just hinges, they are not spring loaded.

There is a prop on the right side of the trunk lid that runs down to latch located on the inside of the trunk. The prop is hinged at the trunk lid. Look in Newsletter #6 of 2004, page 13. There is a photo of the latch and the bottom of the prop.

The latch is a clever little device when it is working. When you open the trunk is will catch the prop and keep the trunk open. Lift the trunk lid and the prop releases and lets you lower the lid.

I recently purchased a Westchester and during my buyer's inspection, I noticed the car has no accommodations for a trunk hold open mechanism. The seller gave me a hinge type device that he cited is for the car. All the images I have seen appear to depict two hinges along the top side. Could I trouble someone for an opinion of this hold open? Is this correct? Thank you
