From the photo this car your working on looks very familiar. If it belongs to a man that dosen't like to wear pants and is an honorary employee of Pabst then tell him to fix it himself!!!

You can thank my daughter for the picture. She said the old one (that Bill Hummel posted) was scaring people off. I was out in the barn working on a Cord and she came out, took the photo and figured out how to post it on the web site.

My wife says she should have taken the photo from the opposite angle since that's the only part people see hanging out from under the hood.

Jim,

Since Joel brought it up...that picture of you brings to mind the one Jim Corbin used to use when he was the newsletter editor.

And as Jim O'Brien reminded me, this car caught fire leaving the auction block right after it sold for $110,000. Ouch!

That seems to clear it up. Thanks to the Jims (Davis and O'Brien) for straightening me out.

Josh,

I think it was the same car. Barrett-Jackson only lists two auctions, Scottsdale ina couple of weeks and Palm Beach in April.

If I remember right Mark's Cord (that sold last year) is a 1936 handbuilt Westchester with a bolt on buslte back trunk that was renumbered a 1937.

The car was supposedly shown at the 1935 Chicago Auto Show and was first owned by an employee os the Central Manufacturing Company (Porter Gorton)

I'm sure this will (and has) confused quite a few people.

Could be. I didn't know that Mark's car had a bustleback.

Are you sure it's not the same car???? Why would Barrett Jackson have an auction on December 31st???? Could it be a repeat of last years auction because that car sold for $110,000. Were both cars white???? If they are one and the same as I presume they are, this car came from a Mark Castleberry in Mississippi. It may have been mislabeled as a handbuilt Westchester last year. That car had the bustleback as I recall.

An unsupercharged 1937 Cord 812 Beverly (they labelled it a Westchester, and kept calling it that) sold for $110,000 plus fees at the televised Barrett-Jackson auction yesterday. Nice car. Anyone know whose it was?

Last year an 810 Westchester handbuilt sold for a similar amount.

Maybe I should increase my insurance (again).
