Bill,
I saw that episode as well and the same exact idea popped into my head! Although I was wondering if a similar setup could be put in place to shift the side-shifting 1939 LaSalle manual tranny in my RWD-converted Cord.

Did the people who put in that big Chrysler engine connect it to the original water temp gauge?

You all know what an eyesore my Banjo steering wheel and column shifter are. I have to get rid of them as soon as possible.

I now have a correct '36 Cord steering wheel, column and shifter courtesy of Glenn Pray and George Ehresman.
The question is, how do I mate the original parts to my GM Turbohydromatic 400?

This may be the answer! This electronic shifter is made by Moon Equipment and runs about $700.00.
I suspect that once the box is in place, it may be possible to wire the cord shifter to the box.
