Thanks again for the response. I’m inclined to proceed with the oiler hole. Would you happen to have a pattern or the like for its placement?

Yes, there are 3 plugs in the rocker shafts, 2 in the LH ( long ) shaft and 1 in the RH
(short) shaft- in front. The oiler hole in the LH plug was not a factory feature, but was suggested by someone to improve the life of the chain and sprockets, well worthwhile.

Further to the reference of the two 1/8 " P plugs, the LH one is the timing chain lube PN PH6 ( with a hole) , RH has no hole.
I re drilled this hole at an angle - towards the timing chain so it would spray directly on the chain.

Both long and short shafts have a plug at the timing chain end (rear) only

Hi folks,
I have a question regarding rocker shafts. My restoration guy has sent me an email, the text of which is reproduced below from his email. Is anyone able to help with this please?
Trying to ascertain whether, or not, the rocker shafts have 1/8" NPT plugs, or any other item, fitted to the forward end, or is it tapped merely to facilitate removal with a screwed rod as mentioned in the Service Bulletin No.2, page3.
With the 2 short rocker shafts supplied with your engine parts, one has a plug each end, and the other nil. The long shaft that you obtained has one in the rear end only, and I believe this to be correct.
