Thomas; The increased coolant capacity of the heads is one of several things you can do to lower engine temperature. Others are; Low temperature thermostats 160 F Closing off the intake manifold, radiator shroud, fan spacer 3/8 ",a Henry Portz modified water pump impeller, The use of water for coolant ( where anti freeze is not required.)

Hello George,

Thanks kindly for the information. How have you found the heads performance wise? The increased height is surely a step in the right direction.

The C heads were considered to be the first with increased height , made by Eric Cain of Tulsa OK in 1970. See NL August 1970 P14 for details. These were later sold by A-C parts Co.
I have a pair of these heads on my engine.

Why don't you go forward and get some heads cast and machined . Maybe you can get it done cheaper?

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

$5000 for a set of cylinder heads is outrageous!

Can anyone tell me much on the cylinder heads with the small letter c in them?

The Bohnalite were very early heads. They are basically the same as the original heads as far as design and serviceability. If you need a set of heads call George A. He has new reproduction heads. I think the cost is about $3000 or $3500 per set (I haven't bought a set in a while so I'm not sure on the price). His heads are excallent.

If you are looking for a set of bohnalite or original heads I'm sure I have a decent set I can sell you for a lot less then $5000. PM me.

Most of the cylinder heads I have seen for sale are either marked only with a raised G or with the G and a stamped patent number. What was different about the Bohnalite cast heads? Were they better or worse in anyway? The only set I can find online are these: daytonautoandmemorabilia.org/portfolio_page/cord-cylinder-head/ . The $5,000 asking price seems steep, so it made me wonder what may be special about them.

Thank you for your help.
