I found some flat round glass beads on ebay and then mounted with jewelers wax and turned them down on a lathe using a diamond grinding wheel as my cutting tool. They polished up quite nicely. Re color, they should really be more of a deep amber color than red. When installed in the cigar lighter the amber looks a lot darker than it does unmounted. I have attached some photos of my process.

Thanks Mike.I have not thought about using a screwdriver end for this. Will investigate it. I have been looking at the less expensive cigar lighters to salvage the jewells too.

I have soursed jewels by removing them from less expensive lighters. I have also heard of people cutting screwdriver handles up to make jewels although I have not done that personally. I have not heard of a sourse for purchasing jewels.

I plan on fabricating the Cigar lighters and need the red jewells. Anyone know where to purchase them? I know other colors were offered. Can anyone post how many different colors?
