You may actually enjoy the manual shifting - perhaps give it a whirl.

Hi John,
Back in the 1930's Pennsylvania titled the car in the year it was first titled. It is possible your car wasan't sold until 1939 and therefore would have been titled as a 1939 Cord. It was common for dealers to hold the title paperwork from December sales and not give it to the state until Janurary. THen the car was titled as the next year and people thought they got a newer car.

I have all the shifting components you need to convert it back to original. Let me know if you want them.

I am obviously missing all the shifter components. Any help with finding replacements is truly appreciative. I did find several Virginia State Police safety inspection certificates in the glove box, last one dated 1960. The milage registered on this certificate correlates with odometer. I also found a newspaper in the seats dated 1960. The family indicated that the car was placed into storage in 1960.

On the title and the state safety inspection certificates this Cord is listed as a "1939 Cord Sedan". I have the ownership history traced back to 1941, and suspect the car was sold in Pittsburg PA. Any thoughts on why it is listed as a " 1939 Cord".
