One quick way to spot an incorrect GCO 4804-A generator is to note the position of the oil cups. They must be at the top when installed. Some have new tags with the correct number - beware !

It’s hard some times to tell from photo’s but the air slots in drive pulley didn’t look right, I couldn’t make out the GCO lettering on the tag, it said it was 50 amps, not 28 amps and the 3 wiring terminals were not in the correct position.

seller sold this generator. I did not receive any information about how this differes from a correct generator for our cars.
