A lock ring that does not seat correctly may crack in that spot due to stress - so I agree to make sure the rings fit well. I had a reproduction set of 19" wheels and rings and two had a touch of a flat spot in about a 5 inch area (I had them in wheel wells due to timing and someone a shop working on the car later moved them to the ground) - the rings are now in a landfill.

18 inch snap rings are made of unobtainium. I had coker make up 6 new ones for my Reo Royale. Here is the contact info. You will probably have to send them a wheel so they can make sure the rings seat correctly:

Do you or someone that you know have some eighteen inch snap rings as used on 1928 through 1930 Auburn using Dayton Wire-wheels. I am in need of a couple! Thanks!!
