The 'honeymoon car' is #7. The buyer was aware of this and that was the impetus to bid the car as high as it went. I don't know if the low number warrants more money or not. There are many differences in the first ten speedsters.

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

So I could have bought 3 speedsters for the price of the single one at Gooding?

I guess the one in Auburn will have to be the tie breaker.

I am in error here. The Covert car has a green interior and this one is red.
I was confused by some engine detail that is similar.

The black speedster is a nice car. It was judged at Auburn a couple of years ago. It was restored for Hal Bjornkland in Castle Rock CO. I believe it was owned by James Covert of Florida.

Nothing Mike. I think David Gooding does a bit better marketing job. There were three live bidders with money to spend. I thought that RM speedster went to a no sale at $550.

Yes, that was Paul Petrovich's car . It is going to Denmark. As far as I know it is the high watermark for 851-852 speedsters

Hello,

is the salesprice of $1.2 million for a 1936 Auburn 852 Boattail Speedster a new price record for that type?
