This Calif grille was installed by the factory on the 8-101 and 12-161 series cars to dress them up .Excepting the delivery sheets that were given with each car there is no mention of it, and it was put on Calif cars as the two cars photographed on this sight were orig from. R

These grilles were used in 1933 to spiff up a few cars which were sold in California. I've heard by different sources that they were either done by a distributor/dealer or by the factory, so I'm not 100% sure on who did them.

I've seen one other car other than my own with the grill -- and this picture here makes three cars that I know has the grill installed.

Were those available as an option from Auburn,or "aftermarket"? ( granted there was not much of an industry in that then)
I keep thinking they look like a modified 33 or 34 Ford grille. <!-- s:? --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_confused.gif" alt=":?" title="Confused" /><!-- s:? -->
