One more question:
Meanwhile I received also an example from 1932, in this case the Serial Number consists of 10 digits, f.i.: 8100A1234F (example).
I think, the complete number of my car would be f.i.: 898A1234H ???
H means Phaeton, right? (as Joel told in an older post from 2012)

I found at the frame rail the number 7 6 7 8 (with pretty much space between the digits).
The correct Serial-number would be 8678, right?

For non export cars, the Serial Number and Engine number are different.
Again, for non export cars, You should find a series of numbers on the right side frame rail. If looking at the front tire from the side, should be on frame rail towards the rear of the tire. for example, if frame stamped 1234, then the Serial Number will be 1000 added to that number which would make it 2234.

I wonder if each Auburn in 1931 had a Serial Number and a different Engine Number. And were both numbers stamped in the firewall number plate and in the engine number plate stamped?
My 8-98 has been imported and registered with the engine number. At the engine number plate there was only an Engine Number, but no Serial Number stamped. The number plate looks quite original.
I have also a blank NOS firewall number plate. I would like to stamp this number plate as original as possible. Because my car is registered with the Engine Number, I would have to stamp the Engine Number as a Serial Number in this plate. In this case it looks not very useful to stamp the Engine Number also in this plate. Were these plates originally always stamped with both numbers?
What can I do? I dont have an original Firewall Number Plate or Body Number Plate for this car.
Let me have your thoughts.
Thanks
Andy
