I have done this and did not find it daunting. Once the hub and its woodruff key are removed seal retainer came away easily and the seal can be withdrawn from its housing. The seal is readily available as the shaft and housing dimensions are in current use. My advice would be to carefully examine the shaft. If it is scored or the seal has worn it a new seal will leak. Rather than removing the shaft if there is minimal damage you may be able to repair this with a repair sleeve (eg: redi sleeve or speedy sleeve) which provides a new sealing surface. It has worked on my car for many miles!
Good luck!

I am about to remove the leaking pinion seal myself and have it replaced. Has anyone done that and is there something I should pay attention to ?

Does anyone know of a source for new seals that would fit ?

Thanks

Rob
