I have the original owners handbook for my 852. It specifies 140 oil for both gearbox and diff. That is what I have always used. These days its no longer an over-the counter item in Australia, so I order in Penrite in a 5 gal. drum.

You need to remember that they put that very heavy gear oil in these cars for a reason, I'm a true believer that use what was intended. It is only thick when it is cold, once it is warmed up rolls just as easy. but a film stays on everything all the time.
My 2 cents

Before rebuilding my rearend I used 250W gear box oil from Millers.
After rebuilding with new seals I ?ll go for 140W differential oil.

I don't now about 1932 but 35-36 Auburn has no bronze that I am aware of. I use GL-5 85W140 from Tractor Supply. It's about $50. for 5 Gal.
CORDially Mike

I have been using that weight sourced from Tractor Supply successfully, at least so far, in both. We'll see what others have to say.

What weight or type of oil, such as bronze bushings compatible, is recommended for 1932 Auburn dual ratio rear axles.

I use Penrite 140w in my other 1930's cars..

And what kind of oil would work for the transmission ?

Thanks
Rob
