Any burn outs or chirping the tires on stock Auburns, Cord or Duesenbergs can have bad results. Most of the axle shafts are 70 or 80 years old. Just broke the 1 1/2" dia. stub axle shaft on my L-29 not doing burn outs.
CORDially Mike

Its more fun to burn out and chirp the tires in a stock Auburn or L29 or Duesenberg. Oh,yes, I've spun out in my L29. Because I could.

Jonathan~~~

I am in TOTAL agreement with your thoughts here on saving these great old cars and keeping them 100% original ! ! !

I myself have no time for stretrodder/hotrodders who destroy perfectly good original cars ! ! !

The current owner didn't do the Street Rodding. The prior owner did that stuff and the current owner did raise the roof back up 1 inch. A Very Costly save on his part.

He did in fact save this Auburn from certain extinction from the sale of it's parts that had taken place by the Street Rodding.

Through Title records and original Photos of the car with Mae West supplied by Paramount Studios, Date correct to 1935 and Originals, the history is of Mae West's ownership of this Auburn is well documented now.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
DISGUSTING !!!!!!!!!!!! I am just too old ( almost 77 years ) and too
traditional to appreciate this modification of a beautiful Alan H. Leamy
design Auburn with a modern power plant, enabling the car to burnout.
Call me Old School, call me anything you want but we are engaged in
" the restoration and preservation of original Auburn , Cord and Duesen-
berg automobiles" , or did I miss something here. I know times change,
and it is probably about time this loquacious old club member cashes in
his chips and leaves the table. My comments have perhaps gone over to
a state of garrulosity and are thus no longer pertinent. If so, so be it.
I love As, Cs and Ds and I love this club. Sic transit tempora gloria mundi.

This was refered to in the picture gallery a week ago.
Reminds me of a certain member, also a '32 coupe owner, who would occasionally chirp the tires on his Lycoming powered original while running the Newport Hill Climb.
