Thank you all for the replies. I found a canister type on ebay that was originally used on a Willys and it looks like it will mount in my original oil filter mount.

I used a ford v-8 canister that takes a changeable element like Mike described. The replacement elements are available at NAPA. Give me your email and ill send you a picture of the one I put on my brougham and the refill part number.

A gentleman by the name of Burr Ripley makes replacement oil filters from billet aluminum that have modern spinoff filters inside. He makes several different stiles, so be sure to indicate the stile you want. His number. 607-844-8473.

That's what I use, found a NOS Purolator @ Hershey a number of years ago, and buy replacement elements @ NAPA or online. They are pretty generic, the top cover is held on with a center bolt and you get new gaskets/seals with the replacement elements. You can probably find something on ebay or the like, if you don't do swap meets.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what to use for a replacement oil filter?

Based on photos that I have seen I believe the filter on my car is an original type sealed canister filter. I have read postings that you can get a tractor canister filter or an industrial canister type filter that uses removable elements.

Thanks,
