Technically there were 3, although I and II were the same car with different engines. The Mormon Meteor III was built new from the ground up but utilized the engine from Meteor II. So it roughly went like this:

Meteor I - built from scratch on a short J chassis with Duesenberg J-557 engine

Meteor II - This was the Meteor I car with the Duesy engine removed and a Curtis Conqueror V12 airplane engine installed

Meteor III - Completely new car with the Curtis engine from Meteor II transplanted in

All were built largely by Ab Jenkins and Augie Duesenberg. All set numerous records although I and III were the better cars and had more success. Meteor II didn't handle as well and was front heavy.

I highly recommend this movie for those who have not seen it. Very well produced and a fascinating story.
