I think what you are refering to is dual points. The points are synchronized 45 degrees apart for better coil saturation. If you don't have a synchronizing tool any one with a distributer machine can set them up for you. Have them make sure your mechanical advance is correct while they are at it.

I have a 1929 8-120 with twin ignition. The delco remy manual is ambiguous as regards the timing. It states it's wired in parallel but also states each set of points fires 4 cylinders. I believe the points open a couple degrees apart for a longer dwell, but am not sure. I don't have the tool used back then for timing, either. Can someone explain how the timing works?
