I would not recommend anyone welding or soldering to the two speed handle plate as it is pot metal. I learn by doing.

The horn wire should be attached to a brass contact disk, which can be pulled out of the tube separately. You can buy a replacement wire and disc for this. No need to un-solder the wire, unless someone welded it to the two speed shifter.

I need to replace the horn wire on my '35 with 2 speed. I have removed the shift tube, but am not able to figure out how the wire gets removed from under horn button. Looks like it may be soldered in, but was unable to melt it out.
Anyone done this?
