...may be it depends on the max. temperature. I never tried it on an Auburn, mostly on younger cars or racing bikes with probably higher exhaust temperatures.

I will try it later on my Auburn...

I have had great success with POR15 brand exhaust manifold coating. It doesn't discolor, peel or rust through. I've been using it for years.

If Andreas is talking about porcelain that is only a solution if the car is not driven much. My experience with modern day porcelain is not good.

Hi,

my experiences with exhaust manifolds:

Heat resistant paint is no long life solution, it starts peeling off near the head.

The only one long life solution would be Enamel (don't know the correct English word, sorry, in German: Emaillieren).

But its probably not original. If you like some patina, use paint, if you prefer showroom, use enamel..
Good luck.
Andreas

Hi Christian, do you have external oil-pipes somewhere on your engine ?
Actualy you should use the returnepipe into the oilpan comming from the head as IN into the external oilfilter and the OUT-line has to cut in BEVORE the pressurereleavevalve. I can recommend a extrenal oilfilter that i use on prewar Rolls Royce with grate sucsess.
If your interested in these Filters let me know. They are period reproductions and will fit to your car in appeariance.

The more i know, the more i realize that i don't know enough.

Hi

I have owned this about for 5 years and have a running restauration on my hands. This winter I am doing some work to improve the car. I am short a few parts and I have some questions.

The car has serial number 2969643 and a 1930 engine GS13693

Does anyone know where to find a modern ceramic seal for the waterpump? I can mashine it in.

Does anyone know where I can find an oil filter and where it hooks up to the lubrication system? I have no oil filter on the car at present. Perhaps an old filter holder with a modern oil filter in it.

I bought an exhaust manifold from Dave Kirshenbauer. What can you do to prevent it from rusting on the outside. What is a good paint.

I am short of a radiator hole ferrule, cap and gasket. Aluminum I believe.

I am short of a throttle control rod and ball joint ( cruise control )

I am short of an electroloc cable and keys plus a distributer housing that fits it.

I am short of whipers, whiper arms and whiper clips.

Wher do I find some round hood lace for the bottom of the hood to rest on?

Hope someone can help.

Best regards
