Jim:
My 1932 Auburn still has it's original aluminum body#, serial # and engine# plates attached to the passenger side floor board. The serial number is 8817 and the engine number is GU73951. If we subtract 8817 cars from that engine number, we get an approximate starting engine number for the 1932 model year of GU65134. This is an estimate, of course, but puts your engine well back into the 1931 model year.

The Dual Ratio differental could have been added to your car after production. It is a wonderful feature, as is Startix, and I'm sure many 1931 and standard 1932 Auburns were updated with these features in later years.

For repair of your electrolock, try Frank Cek at 216-486-3177.

I have a 1931 Electrolock that is shorted in the cable. Does anyone know who might repair this for me? Also my car is titled as a 1931 and has engine number GU47158, but it also has dual ratio which I thought was a 1932 feature. Is my engine a 1932?

Thanks.
