There were 942 6 & 8 cyl conv sedans built as 1934's.
There are approx 22 known to exist.

Here is a pic of my frame number. The bolt on the left is the bracket to hold the bottom of the fender.
As Mike said, the numbers are VERY lightly stamped into the side of the frame.

I own A 35 Auburn. The production no. was half covered up by the fender. The stamping is very shallow and about 3/4 to 1 inch tall. Use paint stripper to remove the paint or you risk destroying the no. by scrapping off the paint. If there is much rust you may not find it.
CORDially Mike

There is a guy trying to unload a 1935 six cylinder on ebay right now who has an extra motor. You might want to contact him and, if the auction doesn't met reserve, possibly you could make a deal on the spare engine.

Hey guys another day with no luck, I cleaned the frame on the top and both sides and even on both rails in case export cars were stamped on the other rail with no luck. Were all frames stamped including export cars? I cleaned from the center of the axle back about 2 feet every where but the bottom any ideas?

I need some clarification on my own words. The number stamped on the passenger side of the frame approximately 14 inches behind the front axle centerline is the "unit number." The Serial number will be 1000 more than that number. Example: if 3671 is stamped on the frame, then the Serial number would be 4671 and this would be the number stamped on the Auburn Automobile tag, along with the Model and Engine No.

I own a 34 652Y sedan and I know there are very few left out there (Randy Ema can probably give you the exact number). Only just over 4,000 were made in their short production run. Mine is stock and pretty much the most dependable vintage car I have ever owned. Mine is simply wonderful in parades and has done very well on trips to the post office and Wal-Mart. In other words it gets used pretty much like it was used 70 years ago.

Mr. Smith,

I am confused...............after approximately 12 years performing certification checks on Auburns, I never saw a vin number on top of the frame forward of the front axle. My 1930 8-125 had the chassis number stamped on the passenger side of the extreme front of the frame where the front of the front spring attaches. Typically, the chassis number is the only number stamped on the Auburn frame. This chassis number is usually found approximately 14 inches back from the centerline of the front axle on the passenger side of frame (left hand drive as reference).

I am very interested to see a pic of the vin number in the location you are referencing.

vin should be stamped on the right front on top of frame app. six inches in front of axle, you will probably have to clean frame to find it, but all auburn frames were stamped here at the factory.

No tags, would then V.I.N. number be on the frame anywhere?

Cars appears to have been a light blue color when new.

Should be a vin tag on the side of the firewall, passenger side. You have to open the hood to see it. If it's not there, you will see 4 small holes where the plate was held in place with small nails.

I was told it was owned by a museum in Argentina and stored in a warehouse with many of there other unfinished cars. The museum auction off a bunch of cars and 3 were brought back to the US. I bought the car off e bay out of Michigan from a guy who planned to hot rod it. The plates on the car are from Monti Video.

There are no emblems or tags i can find anywhere saying its an Auburn, where can i find a V.I.N. number?
