"Pics Service Station" owned by Amando Piccareno near downtown Worcester mass. The DCU Center now sits in the general location. Pic is still alive and doing well, I see him once a year or so.

The Scintilla Magneto was supposed to be some sort of performance enhancement and Mr. Smith ended up sending it back to the factory at least once because the engine would not idle at 550rpm. It might still be floating around in one of our storage bins somewhere. My dad must have purchased the Auburn right before you as all three cars were still there when he picked up the Auburn. Here is a picture of it during it's second trip to Auburn when it was purchased by Mr Goodwin. At this point it was painted Maroon. The second picture shows it during restoration and you can see the stock distributor is now in place.

Yes, Mr Sheldon Smith was one of the owners of Ithaca Gun Co. in New York.I talked to Bill Miller in Indiana today and he confirms having the car now in yellow and again a green interior. The ad indicates that in had some sort of racing generator. The asking price then was $2500.00
My Cabriolet was purchased in 1958 which confirms your dateline

Sheldon Smith was involved in gun manufacturing of some sort, right? My dad bought the speedster and brought it to Auburn twice in the late 50s, once while it was still white and once after it was restored and repainted maroon. The car was sold to a local funeral home operator at the second show and remains in that family still in the Auburn area. My dad has vivid memories of driving the speedster home from NY to Mass in the winter during a snowstorm.
